Love in the time of COVID-19

With guests safely socially distanced, Damion and Paige say their wedding vows in front of Springs Inn on Main Street in Wessington Springs.

As she watched more and more friends and acquaintances cancel their spring weddings due to restrictions around the coronavirus, Paige (Jacomet) Clover couldn’t imagine putting off her own nuptials that she had been planning since last fall — or waiting any longer to tie the knot with fiance Damion Clover.

“Every day, we saw the rules changing when it came to the virus,” she said. “After I made sure it was ok with my work — because I work at the nursing home and protecting our residents is number one — we decided to go for it.”  The April 23 wedding was originally scheduled to be held inside her aunt and uncle’s restaurant, the Springs Inn. The ceremony was going to be held on one side of the restaurant with the reception on the other.

But with social distancing CDC guidelines when it comes to COVID-19, Paige and Damion scratched the original plan and got creative. The wedding venue remained the same, the bride and groom simply moved it outdoors.
