Change of venue to American Legion

Challenging winter conditions, requests for space to dance and more room for a full house have prompted Wessington Springs Mollie B concert organizers to change the venue of next week’s show. The concert, scheduled for Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 7 p.m., has been moved from the original location of the Opera House to the American Legion.

Mollie B fans from South Dakota and neighboring states who have already purchased tickets have asked about a space to dance during the show, prompting concert organizers to take a look at a larger venue than the originally booked Opera House location.

“Add limited parking plus ice and snow to contend with at the Opera House, we have decided to move the concert to the American Legion,” said Brian Bergeleen. “If anyone is interested in seeing the Opera House I’ll gladly show them the historic building while in town for the show.”

Making her inaugural visit to Wessington Springs with the band Squeezebox, the group specializes in live dance music and entertaining stage shows.  Their performances include multiple genres of music including polkas, waltzes, fox-trots, 2-steps, big band, swing, square dances, and figure dances.  With a repertoire of over 600 songs, and solid vocals in English, Polish, German and Czech, Squeezebox is able to play “something for everyone.”

Mollie B is a multi-instrumentalist and award-winning vocalist who has been performing music all her life. Most recently Mollie B appeared as “Mollie B” in a scene of the Warner Brothers movie, “The Mule,” directed and starring Clint Eastwood.  In this scene, Mollie plays piano, trumpet, sings, has one line, and dances with Clint Eastwood.

Limited tickets are available. Admission is $20 in advance, and if tickets are still available the night of the show, $30 at the door. Concert proceeds benefit the ongoing operation and care of the Historic 1905 Opera House.
