On the Road Interview

Above is a behind-the-scenes look on the set during filming with Huether at the conservation shed at the 4-H Rodeo Grounds in Wessington Springs. Cameraman Taylor Yocum sets up the shot as Mike Huether interviews local conservation-minded rancher Scott Kolousek. The show will air June 30 at 6:30 p.m. on KELOLAND.

Although Mike Huether may be well known to many South Dakotans for serving eight years as former mayor of Sioux Falls and current television host on KELOLAND, Jerauld Conservation District Manager Lisa Sall describes Huether as her “longtime, most enthusiastic conservation customer.”

When the conservation district planting crew made up of Jerauld County locals Charlie Bergeleen, Joel Sorben and Verle Hoffman, recently went to work on Huether’s family place southwest of Wessington Springs, he said he was quite impressed and wanted to join them.

“As soon as I saw the A-Team in action I knew I had found my story,” said Huether of the planting crew. “I knew we could capture the importance of conservation and bring to KELOLAND the value of the land, the wildlife, of teaching kids about habitat.”
