Cruisin' for cancer

Taking a cue from the “Cruisin’ Main” nights earlier this spring shown above, Relay for Life 2020  will Cruise for Cancer this year.

“Cruisin’ for Cancer” Aug. 20

The fight against cancer continues with a modified version of the annual Jerauld/Sanborn County Relay For Life scheduled for next Thursday evening, Aug. 20, in Wessington Springs.

Taking a cue from the Cruise Nights this spring, the Relay will begin with a cruise down Main Street at 6:30 p.m. Cancer survivors may stop at City Hall to register at 6:15 or call Cancer Society representative Tanya Krietlow at 605-280-6956. Then it’s on to the park for a drive-through meal and a short parking-lot-style program. More details will be printed in next week’s True Dakotan.

In place of the traditional luminaries, people may purchase a listing in the True Dakotan in honor or in memory of those who have dealt with cancer. Those names will be printed in next week’s paper. People may pick up forms for the luminary listings at American Bank and Trust in Wessington Springs and Alpena or cut out the form in this week’s print and e-issue issue on PAGE SEVEN

Names and checks must be dropped off there or via the mail slot at the True Dakotan building on Main Street by noon next Monday, Aug. 17.

An online donation option will also be available. Please check www.wessingtonsprings.com for further details. Those interested in participating may also call Rev. John Paulson at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church: 539-9632.
