Friday, February 22 was the last day to file for candidates seeking to serve on the City of Wessington Springs council. A total of seven petitions were filed for the city election. Voters will go to the polls and decide which individuals will serve the city on election day, April 9, 2019.
Candidates up for election are (listed alphabetically):
City Council Ward One (One-year term)
City Council Ward Two (Two-year term)
Incumbent councilmen who filed petitions and are uncontested are: Aaron Roesler, City Council Ward One (two-year term) Kim Schultz, City Council Ward Three (one-year term) and Joe Hettinger, Ward Three (two-year term).
Council member Mark Gran, Ward Two and Mayor Kathy Voorhees both have one year left on their current terms.
The April 9, 2019 election will be held at the Jerauld County 4-H Building from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Absentee ballots will be available no later than March 25 and absentee votes may be cast until April 8, 2019 at 5 p.m. at City Hall.
