In preparation for the 2021 fiscal year, county and city officials have been diligently working on their budgets, with first readings for both municipalities scheduled for the first meetings in September.
On Monday night, the city council met to further discuss budgetary priorities in preparation of the first budget reading scheduled for Wednesday September 9 at 7 p.m. Topics included potential improvements to the baseball field, a drainage project in city park, Second Street repairs, pool house repairs and equipment needs. Revenue to fund the prospective projects such as rate increase and special maintenance fee were discussed as well. The council moved into executive session to discuss 2021 employee wages in regards to the budget.
As for the county, commissioners are required to publish the provisional budget and notice of hearing to be held on the first Tuesday in September in the official legal newspaper. A second notice of hearing (without the text of the provisional budget) shall be published the following week. Both are published in this week’s issue on PAGE SIX
The Board of County Commissioners will meet at the Jerauld County Courthouse on Tuesday, September 1 at 9 a.m. to consider the provisional budget.
