President Donald Trump has ordered flags at half-staff immediately for 30 days to honor the life of former President George H.W. Bush. In accordance with the President’s order, Gov. Dennis Daugaard asks that flags across the state be lowered immediately and remain at half-staff until sunset on Sunday, December 30.

The U.S. Postal Service announced that mail delivery and post office retail services will be suspended Wednesday, Dec. 5, in remembrance of former President George H.W. Bush.

The temporary pause for the National Day of Mourning was proclaimed by President Donald Trump.

True Dakotan delivery to businesses around Jerauld County (Springs Food Market, Humm-Dinger, Jerry’s Motor Clinic, Sweet Grass Eatery, Lane Cafe, Alpena Co-Op) will continue on its regular Wednesday morning schedule, however, due to the proclamation, local, in-state and out-of-state subscriptions will be mailed on Thursday. 

All federal offices also will be closed, the proclamation states. U.S. stock markets will be closed, and the Supreme Court has postponed arguments.
