Jalene Reiner was among  the dozens of kids who made a beeline to the pool in Wessington Springs on opening day Monday.

A cool breeze and mild temperatures didn't deter area children of all ages to eagerly take the first plunge of the summer season during the inaugural pool day of 2019. The Wessington Springs pool opened Monday and served up summer fun to a pool-full of kids and adults alike.

Two swim lesson sessions are being offered in Springs this summer, with session one scheduled to be held from June 17 - 28 and the second session July 29 - August 9. Lessons are $20 for swimmers who hold a pool pass and $25 without a pass. Pool family passes are $50, single passes are $30 for the summer and day passes are $3. To sign up for lessons or pay for your pool  pass, stop by City Hall.

Lessons are also offered at the Alpena pool from June 24-28 and July 22-26 at a cost of $10 per child. Pool admission is free of charge. Call or text Shawn Ochsner at 605-461-8436 to sign up.
