The City of Wessington Springs will begin a project next week to repair a failing cast iron water main beginning Tuesday September 8.
The water main replacement project will focus on College Avenue south of Main Street and is anticipated to cause temporary disruption in water service to homes and businesses in an isolated area of town. City water superintendent Jim Vavra said that most disruptions will occur south of Main Street and on Alene Avenue and College Avenue from 6th Street South. Vavra explained that most disruptions should be very temporary, lasting less than one hour at a time.
Although the project should only affect business and residences in the immediate area of the project, Vavra urges all residents of Wessington Springs to conserve water for the duration of the project.
