When severe weather was in the forecast the evening of Fourth of July, the Wessington Springs Fire Department had to make the tough choice on whether or not to postpone their annual firework show in city park. They decided to delay fireworks until Saturday, and then the severe weather didn't end up presenting itself.

Across Jerauld County, folks took it into their own hands to light off plenty of their own fireworks, leading Cashman Fireworks east of Springs to have one of their best years yet.

When Saturday evening arrived, the firemen's show didn't disappoint, with plenty of the big rockets soaring high in the sky, extending the delight of Independence Day festivities into the weekend.
