Circulation of nominating petitions begins on January 31, 2020
This week, the city of Wessington Springs and the Wessington Springs School District announced board positions that will become vacant due to expiration of present terms of office.
On the city side, the two year term of Mayor Kathy Voorhees, along with the terms of the following councilmen are set to expire: 1st Ward Alderman –two year term of Ryan Knipfer, 2nd Ward Alderman – two year term of Mark Gran, 3rd Ward Alderman – two year term of Kim Schultz.
As for the board of education, three-year terms for school board positions held by Todd Grohs and Dustin Weber are set to expire. The two-year term of Chris Schimke and the one year term of Jennifer Jensen will also become vacant due to expiration of present terms of office.
Circulation of nominating petitions begins on January 31, 2020. Alderman petitions may be filed in the Office of the Finance Officer located at 101 Wallace Avenue South, Wessington Springs, South Dakota between the hours of 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 1 – 4 p.m. CST. School board petitions may be filed in the Office of the Business Manager located at 302 Dakota Ave. N. in the Wessington Springs High School between the hours of 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., CST. All petitions must be filed or mailed by registered mail not later than February 28, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
The combined election is slated for Tuesday, April 14, 2020 at the Jerauld County 4-H Building. More information can be found in the public notice located in this week's print and e-issues on PAGE FIVE
