Snow falling over veteran memorial

After a mostly dry December, several end-of-year snow events framed the holidays, ensuring both a White Christmas and frosty New Year. 

On December 23, a blizzard featuring extremely strong northerly wind, with gusts of 50 to 60 mph  dumped three inches of snow and .40 precipitation to the area according to official weather recorder Kathy Voorhees. On Sunday morning, a quick-moving storm brought another inch of snow and .12 precipitation.

On December 29, steady snowfall had blanketed four inches of snow and .36” precipitation over the region as of press deadline at 1:30 p.m., with more expected before the weather event was forecast to conclude later in the evening.
