True Dakotan fire

The Wessington Springs, Alpena and Woonsocket Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a fire this morning at the True Dakotan newspaper on Main Street in Wessington Springs.

The office is temporarily closed but True Dakotan editor/publisher Kristi Hine said that the paper is open for business, still actively covering news and in the process of setting up the newsroom remotely.

"Thanks to the efficient and swift action of our area firemen, the damage was isolated to one part of the building, and everyone remained safe -- including our newspaper cat," said Hine. "While we evaluate the damage, our building is closed but the newsroom remains open. Our office phone is forwarded to my cell phone and we expect to be online and running remotely by Monday."

Photos and details about the fire can be found in the next issue of the True Dakotan.
