Fifth and sixth grade student athletes took part in basketball tournament action last weekend in Miller at the First Annual Beau Keeter Classic. During tournament play, Springs fifth grader Grady Gran (shown at right with the Keeter family) caught the attention of tournament organizers and brought home the tournament’s Sportsmanship Award.

Hosted by the Keeter family, the tournament was held in memory of Miller native Beau Keeter who tragically passed away at age 19 in 2015 from bacterial meningitis.

Gran received a basketball and a handwritten note from the family that stated, “There is no stat for being a great teammate but the pleasure Beau got from the game, the kindness and respect he gave his teammates and the pure joy he was to watch play was truly a gift. Congratulations on demonstrating all these qualities today at the Beau Keeter Classic 2019.”
