From the halls of WSHS, we bring a pencil drawing to this week’s Artist’s Corner! This week’s project was created by Advanced Art IV Senior, Emma Lammey.

Emma chose to create this project because she wanted the challenge of drawing realistic faces. She worked to get the facial proportions correct and accurate. It was especially important to get the eyes right as they are the main focal point of the drawing and it pulls the viewer into the artwork. Throughout this project, Emma paid special attention to the light to dark shading around the girl’s face. She knew the shading needed to blend smoothly in order to look three dimensional and realistic. It was also important for Emma to include strong contrast in the different shading levels to give the drawing that overall finished and lifelike look.

Emma’s hard work and effort paid off into an amazing and captivating artwork!
