The Jerauld County Trap Club along with local HuntSAFE instructors announced this week that the popular youth hunting safety course will not be held in person this year due to concerns around COVID-19.

“The Jerauld County Trap Club will not be conducting the HuntSAFE course in 2020 due to COVID-19,” said Dayle Winter, longtime instructor. “The course will be available online with SD Game, Fish, & Parks.”

Winter said that HuntSAFE manuals can be picked up at the Winter Service shop located on Dakota Avenue and  additional questions can be directed to him at 539-1581 or to Wayne Grohs at 539-1028.

“This would have been our 40th year holding HuntSAFE locally,” Winter said. “We hated to bypass it but we’re following recommendations from the state and it is simply the way it is this year.”
