The Spartan Volleyball team took third place at the 281 Conference Tournament in Forestburg on Saturday, beating Wolsey-Wessington in three straight sets. This is the first time since 2014 that the Spartans have been in the winner’s bracket. Currently the team record stands at 9-7. 

"This is a great place to be in the middle of our season," said assistant coach Jordan Von Eye. "We are on a 5 and 1 streak and hope to carry that momentum into Homecoming Week."

"The girls have been playing well and, more importantly, together as a team lately," said head coach Lynnette Neely. "We are focusing on team first mentality and the power of a positive team this season." The teamwork  definitely showed in the tournament. Maddie Neely had 24 kills, 25 digs and six aces. Chasity Vissia had 72 assists, eight kills, and seven aces. Makayla Dornbusch had 21 kills and three aces. Piper Jones had 17 kills, six blocks and 5 aces. Grace Gran had 11 kills, two aces and three blocks. Sierra Burg had 58 digs and Linzi Olinger had five aces. "I am really happy with how this team is supporting each other and working together," said Coach Neely. "The stats show that they are all integral to the team and when they are all clicking together, there is no stopping them!"

The Spartans take on the  Highmore-Harrold Pirates on Thursday this week.
