Middle school holiday concert

Junior High soloists Estrellita Cardona and Anya Thompson took the stage during the Polar Express performed by the Wessington Springs Middle School Choir.

Looking across much of the nation, Wessington Springs was among the few communities able to enjoy a student Christmas concert this year due to the pandemic. To help socially distance and make sure the students were able to perform, the school district held three different concerts this year in lieu of an all-school concert held on one night.

Music educator and choir director Julie Fastnacht weighed in: “We get to make music," she said with emotion. “It almost brings me to tears seeing them up there. Not many students and teachers get to make music and share it with their family and community this year. This is such a gift.”
