WSES fifth graders enjoy exciting remote learning experience, collaborate with best-selling “I Survived” author

While remote learning due to COVID-19, Connie McLaughlin organized an opportunity for her fifth graders to participate in a Zoom video conference call with Lauren Tarshis, author of New York Times bestselling series “I Survived.” Tarshis is shown at center in the lowest row, surrounded by images of students, teachers, WS Carnegie librarians and more. Tarshis visited Wessington Springs and the WS Carnegie Library while writing “I Survived the Children’s Blizzard, 1888,” and was happy to visit with local students from her home in New York about her latest books, her upcoming book series and the importance of documenting our daily experiences while living during a pandemic.
