With half of the proceeds going toward payout, the other 50% will benefit the Child Rescue Coalition.
A love of rodeo and a passion for helping those who can’t help themselves prompted Wessington Springs High School senior Caroline Witte to plan a Breakaway Jackpot Sunday, November 5 at 4 p.m. in White Lake. With half of the proceeds going toward payout, the other 50% will benefit the Child Rescue Coalition.
“I rodeo, and breakaway is my favorite event. I really enjoyed roping this summer — I’ve always done it but was really successful this summer,” Witte said. “I thought it would be a lot of fun for others in the area and a great way to raise funds for an organization that helps protect children, so I planned a breakaway jackpot at James McCord’s barn in White Lake.”
Securing sponsors LG Seeds, Ray’s Western Wear, Marv Jira, Farmers & Merchant Bank in White Lake and Legacy Chiropractic, Witte said that the entry fee is $100 and the event includes three age groups: 8-13, 1418, 19 and over.
“I’m hoping to get more moms and dads who bring their kids to enter,” Witte said of the 19 and over group.
I always enjoy seeing Ronnie Thompson and Owen Fagerhaug rope at the SDRA in senior mens breakaway. It would be nice to see them compete in it and I’m sure they would enjoy it.”
