BY METTE NESS, AMERICAN LEGION AUXILIARY SECRETARY
American Legion Auxiliary met on Monday November 20, 2023 with sixteen members present.
Chaplain Marla Ness opened the meeting with prayer.
Veterans Dave Kogel and John Roger Cashman were present to give an update on their journey with the Honor Flight. Both gave very informative talks and videos. Thank you to both of them and all the others who have served.
We then proceeded onto our monthly meeting with roll call of officers with six present.
The Secretary and Treasurer’s reports were read and approved. President Judy Winegar gave her President’s report, she told of some items that were of importance. Judy also reported there is an accidental insurance policy available to Auxiliary paid members. If interested contact Judy and she will get the information needed.
Membership: Membership chair Connie McLaughlin gave her report with 114 paid members to date.
Poppies: Chair Judy Winegar reported the new poppies have been delivered, Mary Lou Cameron has volunteered to make the wreaths for the cemetery.
New business: During the January meeting (January 15) we will need to have the Girl’s State delegates present for selection due to no meeting in February and registration needs to be paid sooner than normal. Girl’s State Chair Audra Scheel will take care of this and make sure they will be present if we have some that qualified.
A memorial for Alice Willman was discussed. Judy will contact her daughters to see if they have a preference on whom to give the memorial. We will discuss it further in January.
President Judy reminded members to keep track of volunteer hours since they need to be turned in by March. Teacher appreciation will be observed in January after the holidays.
Connie McLaughlin and Joyce Krueger will be in charge of the wreath at the courthouse. The open house at the courthouse is scheduled for Friday December 15.
With no further business to discuss the meeting was adjourned.
