Families with young children in both the Wessington Springs and Wolsey-Wessington School Districts will have the opportunity next month to take part in developmental screenings designed to help track early milestones.
The screenings are open to children ages birth to five and will be conducted by a team from Core Educational Cooperative along with school personnel. Each child will be screened in the areas of vision, hearing, language, motor, and developmental skills. Results will be available to parents the same day.
Wessington Springs
The Wessington Springs School District will host its screening on Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2025, from 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. in the Wessington Springs Elementary Gym. Screenings are by appointment only; call 605-539-9311 to register your child.
Wolsey-Wessington
That same afternoon, the Wolsey-Wessington School District will hold its screening from 1 – 3 p.m. in the Wolsey-Wessington School Gym. Parents should call 605-883-4221 to schedule an appointment.
These joint screenings are designed to provide families with helpful insight into their child’s growth and development, while connecting them with resources if further evaluation or support is needed.
