Drum roll please...

Total Construction Wins First Annual Business Pumpkin Decorating Contest

With over 50 electronic and 40 handwritten votes cast for the first annual Jerauld County Business Pumpkin Decorating Contest, nearly 100 people weighed in on their favorite creation. The entry with the most votes was none other than the roasted turkey dinner entry from Total Construction owners Lynda and Kirk Luymes.

Given the extensive handiwork required to create the entry, it's only fitting that a construction company took home top prize.

"We had to attach two small gourds for the wings and two larger for the legs," the couple explained. "We ended up screwing them in to the larger pumpkin used for the body."

Crumbled dog buns served as the stuffing which was then hair sprayed so that the seasoning made up of garlic salt, parsley and seasoning salt was applied. Two different shades of brown paint created the varying tonality of the turkey "skin."

The idea for the contest came from Wessington Springs woman Chelsea Waters, whose husband Weston crafted the trophy, pictured with the contest winners above.

"It's been fun getting people in the spirit and looking at cute decorations. And having it at Jensen's makes it easy for everyone to participate before or after work," Waters shared.

Congratulations to Total Construction!
