Members of the Wessington Springs Volunteer Fire Department gathered Saturday, Feb. 21, at Sweet Grass in Wessington Springs for their annual Firemen’s Supper and awards night. The evening celebrates the department’s members, families and community partners while recognizing those who go above and beyond in service to the department. This year, Lucas VanEngelenburg was named Firefighter of the Year for his dedication, skills and strong camaraderie with fellow firefighters and the community.
The department also honored B and S Service as Community Business of the Year. Owners Cody and Aryan were recognized for their ongoing support of the fire department, helping keep equipment running and ready whether at the shop, the fire hall or on emergency scenes.
