Main Street will come alive with lights, music and holiday cheer on Monday, Dec. 1, as Wessington Springs hosts its expanded town-wide celebration to usher in the holiday season. The event runs from 4 to 7 p.m., with the community Christmas tree lighting scheduled for 6 p.m.
Main Street will be closed to vehicle traffic and transformed into a festive winter gathering place featuring fire pits for roasting marshmallows and making s’mores, holiday shopping at local businesses, raffles and drawings, and a full slate of family-friendly activities.
A Golf Cart Parade of Lights will begin at 5 p.m., followed by Kids Christmas Train rides from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. The Community Choir will lead a Christmas sing-along from 5:45 to 6:15 p.m., filling Main Street with classic holiday music before the community gathers at 6 p.m. for the lighting of the Christmas tree. A Christmas photo booth will also be available throughout the evening for festive snapshots.
Families can drop off letters to Santa, contribute to a community art collage, enjoy seasonal treats, and take in the warm glow of downtown as local businesses extend hours and offer special promotions.
