Wessington Springs will come alive the weekend of August 1 – 3 as Foothills Days returns with a full slate of activities celebrating small-town spirit and summer fun. The three-day event offers something for all ages, from rummage sales and golf to live music, movies, and barbecue.
Festivities kick off on Friday, August 1, with the Mayor’s Golf Classic teeing off at 10 a.m. at the Springs Country Club. Crazy Days will run throughout the day beginning at 8 a.m. on Main Street, offering local deals, sales, and sidewalk surprises.
Families are invited to the Firemen’s Funfest (more on PAGE TWO) at the Wessington Springs Fire Hall from 6 to 10 p.m., featuring games and activities. As the sun sets, community members can bring blankets and lawn chairs to David Jost Field for a Movie in the Park showing of Field of Dreams at dusk.
Saturday, August 2, begins bright and early with the Rummage Sale Rescue (more on PAGE TWO) from 7:30 to 10 a.m., with registration at the Field House. The popular City-Wide Rummage Sales and Crazy Days return at 8 a.m., continuing shopping across the community.
The day heats up at 4 p.m. with the annual Rockin’ Ribfest at the tennis courts, featuring a barbecue rib competition and live music until 10 p.m. A Bean Bag Tournament will be held alongside the festivities, with registration at 4 p.m. and play beginning at 5 p.m.
Foothills Days wraps up on Sunday, August 3, with a Community Church Service at 9 a.m. at the Senior/Community Center. All denominations are welcome. Caramel rolls and coffee will be served starting at 8 a.m. for a free-will donation. The meal and service offerings will benefit the Senior Center ROCS Nutrition Program.
