The True Dakotan will once again celebrate local graduates with a special all-color Senior Section, set to publish May 13, honoring members of the Class of 2026 from both Wessington Springs High School and, for the first time, Wolsey-Wessington High School.
Now in its 11th year for Wessington Springs, the section has become a meaningful keepsake for students, families and the community — one that is often saved, shared and revisited for years to come.
Each year, the section features individual senior photos, school highlights and community recognition, all presented in full color across expanded pages made possible through local sponsorship support.
“Families tell us they keep these sections for years,” said publisher Kristi Hine. “It’s more than just a newspaper feature, it becomes part of a graduate’s story and a reflection of the community that supported them along the way.”
Last year’s section highlighted the Class of 2025 with vibrant fullpage layouts, individual senior recognitions and messages of support from area businesses and community members (at right). The use of color and additional pages allowed for a more personalized and visually engaging tribute, something that continues to grow each year.
Sponsorships play a key role in making the section possible. Community support directly funds the expanded page count and full-color printing, ensuring that every senior can be recognized in a format that matches the significance of their achievement.
Local businesses, families and individuals are invited to take part by sponsoring an individual senior or by being included in a community sponsor listing.
Sponsorship options include:
• $150 to sponsor an individual senior
• $50 to be included in a sponsor listing
“This section truly reflects what makes small communities special,” Hine said. “It’s neighbors supporting neighbors and celebrating the next generation together.”
With the addition of Wolsey-Wessington seniors this year, the True Dakotan hopes to build the same tradition of recognition across both schools.
The May 8 deadline to participate is approaching, and those interested are encouraged to reach out soon to reserve space.
