School District Teachers, Staff Celebrated During National Educator Appreciation Week

On National Teacher Day May 6, 2025, and National Teacher Appreciation Week is May 5–9, 2025, the teachers and staff at Wessington Springs Elementary School are celebrated for the work they do with students throughout the school year.

Each year, the first full week of May provides an opportunity to celebrate educators, and in the Wessington Springs School District, teachers and staff are participating in a variety of specials events during the week.

Spearheaded by the Wessington Springs PTO, each day brought a new and unique form of celebration to help honor the elementary school teachers.

On Monday, each teacher received two tulips, courtesy of Ranchy Stems and Springs Food Market.

Teachers and staff started Tuesday with a hearty “Breakfast of Champions,” with a delicious lunch planned for the guests of honor Wednesday.

Thursday, a professional masseuse will be providing chair massages for the faculty and staff, with a special delivery of the teachers’ favorite things arriving Friday.

To help make arriving to classrooms each day special, local woman and PTO member Kasie Sealy made new signs (above) for each teacher. She also provided blank cards and stickers for the students to write and design a personalized card for teachers. A “chalkwalk”  also greeted staff as they arrived at school, leaving no corner untouched, as a way to say thank you to our school teachers and employees for the important work they do throughout the year.
