Wessington Springs Middle and High School students carried on the much-loved, longstanding tradition of turning over the dirt in Shakespeare Garden last week to prepare for the annual planting festival, scheduled to begin Wednesday, May 21.
Under the guidance of members of the Shakespeare Garden Society, students arrived at the garden throughout the day on May 7, 2025, to help weed, turn over the dirt in the flower beds and prepare the entire garden for the season.
Former WSHS Vo-Ag teacher Craig Shryock and his students were integral in the renovation beginnings of Shakespeare Garden in the 1970s and 80s and continued to “turn over the dirt” for many decades. The tradition continues today under the leadership of Vo-Ag teacher Brady Duxbury.
