In a special meeting held November 22, 2022, the Alpena Town Board convened to review Mayor Randy Peterson’s letter of resignation. The board unanimously approved the resignation and voted to appoint Jeff Kelsey as interim Mayor of Alpena until the 2023 election.
“Randy decided to resign, as he spends winters in Arizona and I’ll be filling out his term until the 2023 election,” said Kesley, who has served as leader of the municipality previously. “I was mayor in the late 80s/ early 90s and I realize things were different then, pre-Jack Link’s. I look forward to my first meeting later this month.”
