The annual Wessington Christmas Parade of Lights will return Saturday, Dec. 13, with this year’s theme, “Santa’s Workshop.” The parade begins at 6 p.m.
The procession will start at the south end of Wessington Street and travel north through the business district. After the first pass, entries will circle back for a second run, followed by a fireworks display over the north end of town.
The event has grown into a major holiday tradition for the community, featuring lighted floats, themed displays and music. Judges will award honors for best theme, most beautiful and most humorous entries.
A community meal will be served from 3:30 to 5 p.m. Children’s activities, hosted by the Cardinal Clovers, will run from 4 to 5:30 p.m. at the Community Center, where Santa will also greet children and pose for photos.
Following the parade, residents are invited to return to the Community Center for an evening of karaoke.
