County Commissioners Lift Burn Ban

During a meeting as the County Board of Equalization held on Monday, April 28, the Jerauld County Commissioners voted to lift the burn ban that has been in place in Jerauld County since the end of last month.

“Due to moisture and grass greening up and getting longer, four of the commissioners were for lifting the ban,” wrote Shannon Fagerhaug, Jerauld County Auditor, in an email to True Dakotan Editor/Publisher Kristi Hine on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. “Walt (Hein) did vote against it.”

The Jerauld County Commission Board enacted a Burn Ban effective March 30, 2025. Pursuant to SDCL718A-2 the penalty for violating this resolution shall include a fine not to exceed two hundred dollars for each violation and/ or by imprisonment for a period to not exceed thirty days for each violation, or by both such fine and imprisonment. The resolution is available for review at the Jerauld County Auditor’s office.
