The Wessington Springs feature airs on SDPB April 10 at 8 p.m. CT.
In an exciting announcement made last spring, South Dakota Public Broadcasting (SDPB) selected Wessington Springs as one of the nine towns chosen for the upcoming 27th season of Dakota Life. Touted as SDPB's flagship “magazine” television show, the program features “stories about interesting South Dakota people, places, and things.”
After filming in the City at the Foothills over the past year, the final film was showcased to an audience of over 90 at a “first look” last month held at the Opera House. The Wessington Springs feature airs on SDPB April 10 at 8 p.m. CT.
“It’s truly wonderful to see so many of you here tonight as we come together to celebrate our community through this special episode of Dakota Life,” said Loree Gaikowski, member of the Wessington Springs Area Chamber and Development board. “Tonight, as we reflect on what makes our community special, we also take a moment to honor two individuals who embodied that spirit of service and dedication: Michial Brodkorb and Tiffany Knipfer. Michial was not only a beloved neighbor and friend but also a volunteer firefighter—someone who stood on the front lines to protect and serve without hesitation. Tiffany’s years of service at the Manor reflected that same deep care and commitment to others. Their loss is deeply felt, but their impact on our community will never fade.”
After the local premiere, attendees enjoyed locally-made pie, cookies and Charlie Bergeleen’s homemade ice cream.
“It’s fitting that we gather here tonight to watch a program that highlights the heart of our town—the same heart that Michial and Tiffany helped shape through their kindness, dedication, and service,” Gaikowski continued. “And as we watch this episode and see our community reflected back at us, I hope we all feel that same sense of pride, gratitude, and responsibility to carry their spirit forward.”
