Signaling a change in leadership on the Wessington Springs Board of Education, one board member resigned and two completed their current term, causing them to be recognized at the Monday, June 10, 2024 meeting.
At the point of the agenda listed as “Board member Resignation,” current board chairman and13-yearboardmember Todd Grohs announced his resignation, which was accepted by the board.
“I’ve enjoyed working with the district and the time I’ve had. I’ve enjoyed all the board members I’ve worked with,” he announced.
Following that agenda item was “Appointment to fill Board Member unexpired term.
Dustin Weber made the motion to appoint Scott Kolousek, who was in attendance at the meeting, as the school board member to fill Grohs’ unexpired term effective July 8. Jacki Bultsma seconded and all voted aye.
Jacki Bultsma and Jennifer Jensen were also recognized for their service to the board, as their terms expire at the end of the month. At the July 8 meeting, Jonathan Arhart and Gene Gaikowski will fill those vacancies due to expired terms.
