From the halls of WSHS we bring a project completed by Advanced Art III senior, Haeleigh Mulder.
Haeleigh decided she wanted to learn how to create artwork with wood burning. She made it her focus art medium for the second nine weeks of class. Throughout the nine weeks, she worked with a couple of wood burners and different wood burning tips to learn how to make flowers, leaves, words and animals. She also learned how to create light to dark shading with different wood burning tips.
For Haeleigh’s final project of the first semester, she chose to draw an elephant. She drew the idea on a separate piece of paper and then transferred it onto the wood. She worked hard to burn light to dark shading on the wrinkles of the elephant so it would create a three-dimensional effect. In addition to the shading, she added in small details on the trunk of the elephant.
Haeleigh’s final project turned out very well, proving that it’s always possible to learn new things
