New Jerauld County leadership is gracing the courthouse this year, with Commissioners DeVonne Losing and Walt Hein serving as the latest members of the fiveperson board. Losing, was appointed in December to fill the office that became vacant following the October 11, 2022 passing of longtime Jerauld County Commissioner Ronny L. Kopfmann. Hein serves in the position formerly filled by Jeff Messmer that became vacant due to the expiration of terms at the end of 2022. Hein’s was the sole petition filed when the notice of term vacancy was announced last spring. His term began on January 1 and he was sworn in at the first commissioner meeting of the year.
