Lane Cafe Popular Spot Among Cross Country Cyclists

As New Hampshire cyclists Charlie Niebling (left) and Phil Bryce (center) made their way over the Wessington Foothills along Highway 34 last Wednesday, the rumblings of hunger prompted the duo to find a nearby restaurant that served up a hearty breakfast. “I looked on my phone and saw the knife and the fork icon in Lane, which led us to Lane Cafe,” Niebling said. Niebling and Bryce have been cycling across segments of the United States for years, with the goal of eventually crossing the entire nation. In 2024, they are covering the segment from Rapid City to Minneapolis. While at Lane Cafe, they visited with owner Shirley Hines and read the last couple editions of the True Dakotan while fueling up with a stick to your ribs breakfast that can only be found at Lane Cafe.
