Mark Your Calendar for a Big Night at the Gym

Second Annual Hall of Fame Inductions and “Beef to School” Recognition Night Slated for February 17

Be sure to keep your calendar open for two can’tmiss events at the Wessington Springs Elementary School gymnasium on Friday, February 17.

A new “Beef to School” program featuring beef produced by local producers will land in the school lunchroom this month. The program, spearheaded by local producers and made possible after months of planning, securing donations and navigating logistics has finally become a reality through collaboration with the district. On Friday, February 17 in between the girls and boys varsity games, a “Beef to School” recognition will take place to celebrate the folks who have been integral in making this program a reality.

Shortly after the “Beef to School” recognition ceremony, the second annual Wessington Springs High School Hall of Fame Inductions will take place during half time of the boys varsity game.

Created as part of the class of 2021 WSHS graduate Dylan Schimke’s senior project, this year’s inductees will be announced by Schimke himself.

“Last year showed that the community really liked the idea of honoring WSHS graduates and creating something that allows people to look back at past exceptional athletes of Springs. It also gives current athletes something to reach for,” stated Schimke.

More about the events will be published in next week’s True Dakotan print and e-edition.
