Pulling for the Alpena Fire Department

In just four years, the Alpena Fire Department’s Annual Tractor Pull has evolved into a beloved community celebration, continuing to grow since its inception in 2021.

“It was a fantastic turnout,” said Alpena fireman and tractor pull organizer Chris Albrecht. “In the tractor pull, with 174 hooks, there were people participating from all over the country. The whole day was a good thing for Alpena, a true town celebration.”

Hot July weather didn’t deter hundreds of attendees to flock to Alpena for not only the tractor pull but also a car show with over 50 entires and a kids pedal pull to kick off the days worth of fun.

Funds raised at the event go toward equipment and operating costs of the volunteer fire department. The present need for the fire department is new bunker gear, the protective clothing worn by firefighters.

“Bunker gear expires every 10 years and we are coming right up to that. The funds raised at this event will go toward that purchase,” Albrecht said.

The event was once again such a success, that plans are already being made for next year.

“It’s incredible that the event just keeps growing and is something people in the area really look forward to. We will be doing it again in the same weekend in July next year.” Albrecht said. “We want to say a big thank you to all who donated, sponsored and came out to support the fire department and the Town of Alpena.”
