Putting down roots for farm-to-table future

Wolsey-Wessington Cardinal Clovers 4-H members put their hands in the dirt this summer, planting fruit trees on the school campus as another piece of the district’s growing farm-to-table program. The trees will complement efforts already underway to connect students with where their food comes from, including locally sourced meat and produce and plans for a student-built greenhouse. The program combines healthy, locally produced foods with hands-on learning and support from area producers, organizations and community members. (PHOTOS COURTESY TERI EICHSTADT)
