Members of the Springs Area Community Club (SACC) have heard from a variety of guest speakers in recent weeks, covering topics ranging from local infrastructure projects and community development to international experiences and career opportunities.
Nante Bothma shared stories and experiences from his life growing up in South Africa. Bothma and his wife, Minette, have two sons, Wynand and Heyns, and he currently works for Todd and Hilary Grohs.
Glen Waldner spoke about the growth and development of the Hebron Colony located along Highway 281, discussing the colony’s history, operations and connection to the Wessington Springs area.
Carson Hainy, a recent Mitchell Technical College graduate, discussed his education in welding and plans for a new welding business based at his grandparents’ farm. Hainy graduated at the top of his class and is the son of Nathan and Niki Hainy.
More recently, Mid-Dakota Rural Water System General Manager and CEO Scott Gross and Board Member Lennis Fagerhaug addressed the club on May 26, providing an update on the Mid-Dakota project serving Wessington Springs and answering questions from attendees.
The Springs Area Community Club meets Tuesdays at noon at the Springs Inn Café. Upcoming speakers include Carrie Azure of SACOTA on June 9 and Dr. Kelli Stacy, DVM, on June 23. A business meeting is scheduled for June 16, with the June 30 speaker yet to be announced.
