So long summer: Warm-weather highlights of area people, places and events

  • Tiny tots from Chelsea Waters’s Daycare took a near-daily walk about Main Street with the daycare owner. They are shown above visiting “Cornell the Caterpillar” in front of Jensen’s. All summer long, the kids would watch in delight as the painted-rock caterpillar grew. Community members were asked to paint a rock and bring it back to Main Street so that Cornell could grow longer and longer throughout the summer.

    As the warm breeze turns into a crisp chill, the days in the garden dwindle, and the dawn of fall rolls around— saying goodbye to a wellspent summer may be a tough pill to swallow. We take this time to look back on several summer highlights from area folks that brought cherished memories, wonderful fun and a chance to relax.
