Springs Rec Center recently received $8,500 from Central Electric Cooperative, the area's rural electric service provider. The board of directors contributed $6,000 to Build Springs, Inc. for kitchen appliances, and the Operation Round-Up board of trustees awarded $2,500 to Wessington Springs Athletic Boosters for tables and chairs.
Mark Reindl represents Jerauld County on the board of directors. He was instrumental in securing the funds for the project.
Reindl said, “Electric co-ops were founded when people came together for a common cause, and that's what the community did with this project. People from Wessington Springs and the surrounding area will be able to utilize the new facility for years to come.”
The $6,000 board donation included $2,000 from Central Electric, $2,000 from CoBank and $2,000 from Basin Electric Power Cooperative.
Operation Round-Up is a voluntary program in which cooperative members round up their monthly statement to the next whole dollar, and the extra cents accumulate to support area projects. Amber Kolousek represents Jerauld County on the volunteer board of trustees.
