With construction for the new rec center and auxiliary gymnasium project well underway at the elementary school, the entrances, exits, drop off areas and parking of years past are now in the midst of a construction zone.
The Wessington Springs School District administration and board created the color-coded graphic overlaying an aerial view of the school to help parents, students and the community as a whole navigate how to access the elementary school building during construction for activities and events open to the public.
• This week, a chain link fence is being installed around the perimeter of the construction site for safety purposes.
• During events and activities at the school, the public may access the building through either the southwest or north doors. These are shown as the green “Entrance” boxes on the map.
• Parking for handicap patrons will be available in the remaining portion of the south parking lot (the “teacher” lot).
• People may park in any of the gravel areas outside of the fence on the east side of the building.
• Patrons are asked not to park behind the building on the north side. This area needs to be clear for deliveries, visiting team access, and guests entering the building.
• Student drop off / pick up protocol will be explained to parents and guardians during back to school night on Monday, August 22.
