Third Annual Leap to Lane Promotes Community Beautification Efforts in Town of Lane

The Town of Lane is gearing up for its highly anticipated Third Annual Leap to Lane event, set to take place on June 24. Launched three years ago, the event aims to raise funds and generate interest in the community while focusing on the beautification of the Town of Lane.

Ed Gray, Trustee on the Town of Lane's board of directors, emphasized the importance of improving the town's aesthetics to attract new residents.

'We can't get people to move here if we don't make it look nice,' Gray said. 'If we clean it up, we'll generate more interest in town, benefiting current residents by lessening the tax burden and enhancing the overall appeal.”

The Third Annual Leap to Lane will feature a car/truck/ antique tractor show, live music, beer garden, shopping with local vendors, bean bag tournament, silent auction, 50/50 and gun raffle, inflatables for kids, firemen’s challenge and an array of food trucks serving tacos and BBQ.

The festivities kick off at 2 p.m. and will include various attractions throughout the day. Families can enjoy the Kids Zone, while enjoying the sounds of Mogen's Heroes, an oldies band set to take the stage from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Car enthusiasts are encouraged to participate in the car show by registering between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 pm. The show will feature an impressive display of classic and custom vehicles, with awards presented later in the day.

For those seeking a little friendly competition, a bean bag tournament will commence at 4 p.m. in the city park. Teams can register at 3:30 p.m. for a chance to showcase their skills. Also at 4 p.m., spectators can witness the firemen's challenge, where local fire departments will compete for top honors.

A silent auction will take place in the main tent from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., offering attendees a chance to bid on a variety of exciting items. Additionally, a 50/50 ticket raffle will provide an opportunity for one lucky winner to claim half the proceeds, while the other half will support the winning fire department of the firemen's challenge.

As the day progresses, the community will gather for the gun raffle and 50/50 drawings at 5 p.m., followed by the presentation of awards for the car show.

To round out the festivities, ZZ-3, a ZZ-Top Tribute band, will take the stage at 5:30 p.m.

With event proceeds from the past two years, Lane has made significant progress when it comes to beautification efforts. A portion of the funds went toward concrete in a maintenance shed that the town built three years ago and is also planned as the town's future community center. The Town of Lane and Leap to Lane shared 50% of the cost, each contributing $12,000.

Community spirit and collaboration have been evident throughout the project, with Dakota Plumbing donating plumbing supplies for the mini kitchen and bathroom in the future community center. The center will also include a meeting room, serving as a hub for town activities.

Additionally, Leap to Lane funds were allocated towards the purchase of five trees, which were recently planted in the local park.

Leap to Lane organizers kindly remind visitors that coolers are not permitted, as various food and beverage options will be available on-site. They also wish to thank the generous sponsors for their support: Agtegra, Olinger Farms Partnership, Todd Swenson, Pro Haul LLC, Firesteel Ranch, H&H Ag, David Salmen, L Double J, Johnson Hay Grinding, Total Oil, Total Construction, Olinger Feedlot & Farm, Curt & Stanna, Dakota Drywall & Stone, Mulder Farm, Feistner Gravel & Excavation, Alpena Coop, S&M Enterprise, Phillip Edwards, TNT, George Allen, Amkota and Hegg Insurance.
