The Wessington Springs Area Community Foundation (WSACF) recently awarded grants totaling $6,940 to five area non-profit groups as a part of its mission to help fund local organizations and projects which help keep Wessington Springs a desirable community in which we live and work, and to promote a thriving hometown for those who come to visit.
Awards for the spring grant cycle were given to: Dunham Historical Society to help with HVAC replacement; City of Wessington Springs for the Owls Amateur Baseball Team to help fund updates to the batting cage and baseball equipment storage; Build Springs, Inc. for tables, chairs, and dollies for the community rec center; Wessington Springs Park and Rec board for the park bench preservation project; and VFW Post 5548 for baseball field improvements.
The James and Bernice Burg Family Fund also awarded a grant to help fund the Imagination Library program.
Last year marked the 25th of serving the community and to celebrate the milestone, WSACF set and achieved a “$25,000 for 25 Years” goal.
The WSACF “community savings account” is an endowment fund that has a simple formula: donations made to the local fund stay invested forever and the earned interest is made available twice a year to local charitable or nonprofit groups.
