Last year, the Wessington Springs Teachers Association (WSTA), made up of the certified teachers in Wessington Springs School District, received a Wessington Springs Area Community Foundation grant for an early reading program.
“We used the funds to order books — a nursery rhyme board book and a “Read t oYour Bunny” book — to give to those within our school community who recently welcomed babies into their families,” said Dacia Mitchell, one of the members of the WSTA. “This program is aimed at encouraging parents to read with their children. We just gave out our first gift bags of books to six families in the community.”
