The 2024 Wessington Springs High School Athletic Hall of Fame Inductees have been announced and will be recognized at an event February 23 during the halftime of the Spartans vs. Sanborn Central / Woonsocket home game in Wessington Springs. Inductees are: Dennis Christensen, Jim Higgins, Brenda Lee and Tim Sorsen.
The Hall of Fame program was created by WSHS Class of 2021 alumni, Dylan Schimke, as his senior project, with the first year’s nominees inducted in February, 2022. The WSHS Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is made up of local volunteers including Mike Mebius, Lynn Horsely, Julie Kraft and Craig Wenzel.
In addition to the Wessington Springs High School Athletic Hall of Fame presentation, the local VFW Post 5548, American Legion Willman-Fee Post 14 and Sons of American Legion will be honored in a ceremony thanking members for presenting colors at over 500 high school sporting events in Wessington Springs for 26 years.
