Dozens of Springs Residents Set Out on Mid Dakota Bus Tour

Mid-Dakota Rural Water System held a free bus tour on May 22 for Wessington Springs residents to get an upclose view of the rural water system’s facilities and operations.

TWO LOCAL YOUTH SHINE AT NJHRF

A new group of national champions were crowned at this year’s National Jr. High Finals Rodeo (NJHRF), held June 2329 at Des Moines, IA, after earning the right to represent their home state.

Conservation Camp Provides Local Youth Unique Outdoor Opportunities

County Horse Show Results Announced

The Jerauld Buffalo Horse Show was held on July 2 at the Jerauld County 4-H Grounds with 10 youth competing in all age divisions.

In a special meeting held Monday, July 8 at City Hall in Wessington Springs, the City Council voted to move forward with a project to connect the city of Wessington Springs to Mid-Dakota Rural Water. Councilwoman Kari Fagerhaug made the motion with a second from Vicki Harmdierks.

Celebrating Freedom on the Fourth

Wessington Springs area folks let freedom ring on Independence weekend 2024, with events on the Fourth of July and the Foothills Rodeo bringing plenty of action over the weekend.

New Leadership Begins on School Board

After calling Monday’s Board of Education meeting to order and offering a time for public forum, the Wessington Springs School Board went into executive session for personnel. Once in regular session, the board approved the agenda as proposed as well as the meeting minutes from June 10, 2024.

Despite rain in the forecast, organizers for 4th of July events in Wessington Springs will carry on with planned events. Wessington Springs Volunteer Firemen say their annual fireworks show is a go for now and a final determination will be made by parade time at 2 p.m.

On Saturday, June 6, the Wessington Springs High School (WSHS) Class of 1974 gathered for their 50th year class reunion. With a full day of tours throughout various new and updated buildings around Springs, the group of 32 kept busy reminiscing about their high school days.
