I wrote my news Monday morning. Delia came to get it later in the forenoon. Neal Barber’s funeral was at 2 p.m. My sympathy to Verla and family. I called my twin sister Marleen in Rapid City. I had seen on Facebook that two of Terry Caffee’s boys had each shot a big elk!
Tuesday, I enjoyed the chicken dinner from the Manor kitchen. At 2 p.m. a membership meeting was held in the dining room. The meeting was led by Nikke Von Eye, administrator. There was discussion on getting new carpet and an automatic patio door. (I see the automatic patio door is put in.) Election of officers was held. Brenda Easton made a motion to elect Linda Jaeger as president, Lynelle Schroeder vice president, Julie Schultz secretary/ treasurer. There being no other nominations, the motion was seconded by Darleen Cuppy. Motion carried. No further business so the meeting was adjourned. Cristy Olinger administrative assistant.
Wednesday, Joyce Mees was hostess for our 9 a.m. coffee. She had orange Jack-O-Lantern plates. She served cupcakes with candy corn on top and a party mix. Enjoying the food and fellowship were Luella Teveldal, Darleen Cuppy, Judy Baumgart, Lorraine Schultz and Kathy Brandenburg. I enjoyed the spaghetti dinner from the Manor kitchen. My daughter Candi Sails came in the evening to watch the World Series game with me. We enjoyed a blueberry scone and cup of tea.
Thursday, I enjoyed the Philly beef sandwich, peas and cake from the Manor kitchen. A friend of my daughter Carol Collins of Castlewood stopped in to visit me in the afternoon. She and Carol lived at Norris, SD for many years.
Friday was Halloween day. My daughter Cathy White of Sioux Falls called to visit in the forenoon. In the evening, we met in the dining room to share treats for cute little witches, clowns, cowboys, etc. Sharing treats were Lorraine Schultz, Luella Teveldal, Cecile Knight, Doris Deneke, Darleen Cuppy, Judy Baumgart, Kathy Brandenburg, Joyce Mees, Sandy Fuerst, Ann Thomas and Verla Barber. Sunday, I rode the bus to the Methodist Church with Jim Deines. Rochelle Witte also rode. Lisa Edwards played a beautiful prelude. Pastor Cheri Van Gorp welcomed everyone and said a prayer. We sang “Great is Thy Faithfulness.” Several announcements and joys were shared. We all said the Lord’s Prayer. We had special music by the choir, Jan Krohmer, director, Kirk and Lynda Luymes, Sandy Wenzel, Laura Kieser, Diane Winter and Julie Kraft. Pastor Cheri’s message “Called to Communion” with scripture 1 Corinthians 11:23-24. Communion was served by Pastor Cheri, Doug Van Gorp and Neal Doering. We closed with the hymn “Victory in Jesus.”
I enjoyed the turkey dinner and pie from the Manor kitchen. I watched the MN Vikings play the Detroit Lions. The Vikings won 27-24.
